If the G Suite is no longer discussed as an alternative to Microsoft 365, Microsoft keeps the favor of IT – the strength and comfort of habit perhaps. G Suite is however superior for those who want to carry out the digital transformation of the working environment.
Ending with the IT of the last century
Organizational structures and traditional working methods no longer correspond to the rapidly changing world and technology in which we live.
An employee uses much more efficient and pleasant technology at home than in the office, where he or she works in an environment that has basically not evolved since the 1990s.
The receptivity to the computer tool has also changed. Young structures expect the tools to meet their needs. They do not want to have to operate within a rigid framework imposed by the IT. This is why in traditional structures the shadow IT multiplies because historical IT does not meet the needs of employees for exchange and collaboration.
What Google has understood by creating fundamentally simple and user-oriented tools.
Still too many small and medium-sized companies only approach the subject from the perspective of hardware and software renewal. Most often by not even evaluating G Suite – but by ignoring its existence. This is because their IT service providers are struggling to get out of their comfort zone, to see Google as a credible alternative and to understand the new challenges of collaboration and digital transition.
Today, it is no longer a question of digitising the infrastructure (computerisation) but of digitising interactions (collaboration). This requires a radically different approach to IT.
IT departments will often provide advice outside the framework, uncomfortable with the cloud – which can be more complex than it seems – and especially uncomfortable with the real issues related to collaboration.
The issue is not a software choice
The digital transition also concerns the workspace. It is becoming urgent to realign the tools and ways of doing things with the requirements of the current fertile and turbulent environment. It is a key factor of competitiveness for companies as much as a challenge for the serenity and satisfaction of employees.
It must be a real transformation, not a software upgrade. The issue is the future of the company, employee satisfaction and employability.

And it is much easier to achieve with a tool that, from its conception, radically breaks with the working methods and concepts of the past, rather than working with a tool (Office 365) that is ultimately quite similar to what we have used until now.
Why choose G Suite
Choosing G Suite over Microsoft 365 will give you the opportunity to create a clean break with the past and put employees in a state of mind that is conducive to great transformations.
Tom Enders, the CEO of Airbus says: “Airbus has decided to take a major step forward by moving to Google Suite. We need technologies that actively support our new working methods, modern tools that allow us to be fully collaborative. Choosing G Suite is a strategic choice, a clear break with the past”.
G Suite will considerably simplify your task by creating a break in the environment and habits, conducive to taking a step back and renegotiating ways of doing things. A change programme including training and workshops will be much more accepted as a matter of course.

On the other hand, moving from a traditional Microsoft environment to Office 365 will be perceived as an update, possibly a major one, but in no way a vector of transformation. Reluctance to embrace an agenda for change will be considerably greater.
The simpler and more elegant productivity tools provided with G Suite generate a less steep learning curve for users new to online collaboration.
With Microsoft 365, the challenge is to make a break with the past – and that’s what it must be: a break with the 90s style of work – which will require more effort than with G Suite.
Of course our article is uncompromising in favour of G Suite. Our opinion is based on our experience within companies. We consider that, if the quality of collaboration is a major concern, then G Suite is undoubtedly the best choice.
Not changing is too expensive. It is an illusion to think that we can remain competitive with the tools and methods of the last century. Or you will soon no longer have your place on the market.
In either case, you must treat the choice of Microsoft 365 or G Suite not as a technical choice but as an element that should support and promote a change in mentalities and ways of doing things.
